Bonnie J. Hostetter 'œHostey' 87, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at Heartland of Oregon.
Bonnie was born at St. Vincent Hospital on September 11, 1925, to Carl and Theola (Patterson) Hostetter. She graduated from Waite High School in 1943 and joined the St. Vincent School of Nursing, graduating in 1946. Upon graduation from nursing school, Bonnie joined the US Army Nurse'™s Corp in 1949 and was called to active duty to San Antonio, Texas. She served 13 months and was re-called in 1953 to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. She was honorably discharged in 1953 as a 1st Lieutenant. Bonnie worked as an office and scrub nurse in surgery for orthopedic surgeons Dr.'™s Bershon and Mills for over 12 years and returned to St. Vincent Hospital as a surgical nurse where she retired in 1986.
Bonnie enjoyed traveling and in 2011 took an extended trip to the west coast. She also enjoyed trips to the Detroit and Windsor Casinos. Bonnie adored dogs, especially her companion, Gracie. She was a member of the St. Vincent retirees, St. Vincent Alumni Association, Dunberger American Legion Post, and the girls of 'œBonnie'™s Bunch'.
Bonnie is survived by many cousins in L'™Anse, Michigan, San Francisco, California, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Hostetter in 2006.
Bonnie'™s final wishes were to be cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in Willow Cemetery, Oregon, Ohio. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor'™s choice.
