Obituary

Kathy Sue Maginnis was born on June, 24, 1943 to Hilbert and Patricia Mueller in East St. Lewis, Illinois then her family relocated to Savanah, Georgia where she spent most of her formative years. Upon graduation from high school, Kathy met her husband who was in the service and they lived in various military bases including Germany, Texas and Indiana. Later in life Kathy moved to Monroe, MI, where she raised her children. She is survived by daughters Patti Poitier, Ft. Myers, Florida and Lori (John) Rehage, Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Rehage, Vicci Neel and Anne Poirier, great-grandchildren, Gavin, Alexander, Ryker Rehage and coming soon Amica Neel; long-time friend Sue Boes and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by grandson Sean Poirier and her parents. Kathy had a long career as a medical transcriptionist. She lived life committed to serving others and was always willing to share her experience, strength and hope with those in need. She was honest, straightforward and had a contagious laugh to go along with her witty sense of humor. She had a love for animals and gave many a wonderful life under her care. Her body held her hostage for many years due to a degenerative bone disease, which required many surgeries and procedures. She always found a way to move forward and adapt to new conditions and circumstances with grace and dignity. She held the Serenity Prayer close to her heart and lived by its words of: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Kathy passed away on Saturday, January 9, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Gifts can be made in Kathy's memory to Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter or The Toledo Humane Society. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a future date, due to COVID-19.
