Obituary

Myrtie Mae Yunker 90, of Oregon, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born on May 1, 1921 in Sedalia, now Midway, Ohio to Jesse and Rosa (Vance) Leach. She attended Maycomber Secretarial School in Toledo, graduating in 1940. She held positions with Mako Hearing Aids and Shortway Lines prior to raising her family. On March 14, 1947, she married Peter C. Yunker after he returned home from WWII on her family farm in Sedalia. In life she loved flowers and adored working in her vegetable garden, flower beds, and greenhouse. Myrtie had a deep and abiding faith in God that sustained her throughout her life. Myrtie is survived by her sons Stephen (Barbara) and Rick (Christine) grandchildren, Todd (Missy) Yunker, Michelle (Brian) Swartz, and Daniel Cox; great-grandchildren Jenna and Aubrey Swartz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Mabel Evans and Margaret Alkire, and brothers, William and Thomas Leach. Private graveside services will be held at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
