Alan Huss, 60, of Manitou Beach, Michigan, and formerly of east Toledo, passed away June 4, 2015 at OSU James Cancer Hospital after a courageous 20 year battle with leukemia. He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Douglas and Anne (Rideout) Huss. He graduated from Waite High School, class of 1972 and went on to become a tool and die maker for GM Powertrain.
He also was co-owner of Huss Lawnmower until it closed in 1994. Prior to moving to Devil's Lake Al was proud of his east Toledo heritage, where he was very active in the East Toledo Club serving as president for many years.
Al also was a member and was active with House East Development Corporation, a group which helped revitalize east Toledo. He loved spending time at Devil's Lake and was a member of the Devil's Lake Men's Club.
Surviving are his loving wife and best friend of 24 years, Jan; sons, Neil and Eric; siblings Sandra and Donald Huss; aunt, Lenore Cole; niece, Erin Huss; and constant companion, Labrador "Buddy." Al was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home, Addison, Michigan on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 2-8 pm and on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11:00 am at Eggleston-Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
