Obituary

Alexander J. DeGregorio, 90, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 at The Gardens of St. Francis in Oregon Ohio. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 1, 1930 to James Ann (Corate) DeGregorio. He was a standout baseball player where he always said, had he received his minor league contract, he never would have been drafted. Having to leave a baseball career behind, he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. He was honored to receive his (CIB) Combat Infantry Badge. Al was a proud member of the UAW and worked at Chrysler and Dura before retiring in 1975. He enjoyed Major League Baseball, had a love for cars, history and watching Westerns. He enjoyed traveling the US with his wife Shirley with his most memorable being his 26 visits to Gettysburg, Elvis Presley's Graceland and Alcatraz. Alexander is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Rob) Zautner; son, Alexander (Joyce) DeGregorio Jr, grandchildren (Nichole and James) His brother Donald (Ginny) DeGregorio. Nephew Donnie DeGregorio, great nephew Don III, great niece Brittany. Nephew Michael (Dori) DeGregorio and great niece Bryce DeGregorio. Nieces Judy Berry, Joyce Whiteman and Nephew Jim DiGregorio.
