Alfred F. Bauman, 81 years, of Oregon, Ohio passed from this life on August 28, 2004 after a valiant struggle to regain his health in St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born in Norwalk, Ohio on December 2, 1922 to Edward and Hazel (Burr) Bauman. Fred was on the first-string football and basketball teams at Norwalk High School and still kept in touch with many members of his class. He took great pride on being a marine veteran of WWII and was injured at Iwo Jima. In 1964, he moved his family from Milan, OH to Oregon, OH and Fred worked for Turner Brooks Flooring until retiring in 1984. He was a member of Heritage Christian Church and it's retiree's Tuesday group. Fred also was active with the GAF, GBU and Men's Swiss Alliance at Oak Shade Grove and golfed with the men's league until last year.
On September 18, 1948, Fred married Shirley Lee who survives with their children, Mark of Honolulu, Hawaii, Nancy Parlow of Oregon, OH, Greg of Oregon, OH and grandchildren, Christina and Allen Bauman of Toledo, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob and sister, Phyllis Wagner.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. at Starr Ave. on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 from 2 until 9 pm where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 am. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions to Heritage Christian Church would be appreciated.
