Alfred Szabo, 85, of Sylvania, Oh, formerly of Oregon, Ohio passed away Friday, October 1, 2010, at Flower Hospital. Al was born in 1925 in Toledo to John and Mary (Kiss) Szabo. He was a WWII Veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Al was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church. He retired from CSX, where he was a longshoreman. Al and his brother, William, owned Szabo Home Builders, developing and building many homes in the Oregon, area.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Annabell; children, Alfred Jr. (Tammy), Suzie (Mark) Wixsom, Annie (Doug) Diefenthaler; grandchildren, Carly and Dean Wixsom, Grace and Olivia Szabo, Max and Ava Diefenthaler. Al was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William, John, Julius and Oscar.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Monday from 2-8 p.m and where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Williston Cemetery.
