Alfreda "Fritzie" Morris, 90, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toledo, Ohio August 15, 1931 to Paul and Anna (Triantafilou) Kaloger and attended Waite High School. Fritzie married the love of her life, Pete Morris and enjoyed 69 years of marriage, raising four beautiful daughters. Fritzie founded the Ole Hickory Inn on Starr Avenue in Oregon in the mid 1960's, later becoming Morris' Restaurant. Throughout their married life, Fritzie assisted Pete in numerous business ventures including Star Vending, Fritzie Freeze, and Pete's Hot Dog. She embraced her Greek heritage and was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. The Morris family home was the centerpiece of family gatherings where her avgolemeno soup and pastitsio were staples at Sunday family dinner. Throughout her, life, Fritzie cherished the time spent with her family and will forever be remembered for her radiant beauty, authentic sense of style, sparkling personality, and generosity to others.
Left to honor Fritzie's love and legacy are her daughters, Catherine Manol, Pam (Jim) Martin, Susan (Ken) Anderson, and Cindie (Steve) Balint; grandchildren, Nick Manol, Natalie (Mike) Jackson, Jamie (Jeremy) Marinis, Zack (Katie) Manol, and Joey Balint; great-grandchildren, Evvie, Karris, Gus, Niko, and Abram; sister, Mary McAnich; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete; and sisters, Bessie, Irene, and Catherine.
Fritzie's family wishes to thank her longtime in-home caregivers, Rhonda, Brooke, Mikala, and Marlene, who allowed her to remain in the comfort of her home during her final years; along with the staff of Bay Park Hospital & St. Luke's Hospital who made her final days peaceful for her and her family.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Trisagion service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 11:00 am. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 740 N. Superior St., Toledo, where the family will greet friends at 10:00am. Interment: Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
