Alice M Hochradel, 89, of Pemberville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home, Thursday, October 7, 2021.Alice was born in Toledo, Ohio, August 12, 1932 to Dewey and Anita (Couture) Miller. She attended St. Francis de Sales Eementary and Woodward High School, ranking 8th in the graduating class of 1950. During high school, Alice was named the business class "most outstanding student" and was awarded several scholarships in the business and secretarial field. She was a member of National Honor Society and Drama Club, among others, as well as a Girls Leader, participating on many sports teams. After graduating, Alice began her secretarial career at Michigan and Ohio Paper, and continued working in the business field for much of her adult life, retiring from Steger Showel Company in 1989 after 22 years of service.
On January 24, 1953, Alice married the love of her life, Louis Hochradel. She spent much of the 1950's as a navy wife stationed on the East Coast and beginning her family of 6 children.
Upon discharge from the Navy, Alice and Louie settled back in Toledo. In 1959, Alice became a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church; serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Children's Liturgy Instructor, and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, R.C.I.A. and C.R.H.P. While at St. Thomas Parish, Alice was active in girl scouting as a leader for her daughters and later for her granddaughter. She was a member of the Ohio Child Conservation league for many years and was a founding member of the "Sing Along" group at Heartland of Oregon Nursing Home. Alice loved camping and upon retirement, Alice and Louie camped in every state in the continental United States.. They also visited Hawaii, Alaska, Nova Scotia and Bahamas.
Alice is survived by her children, Cheryl Hochradel, Kim Hartford, Tammy Hochradel, Nanette Hochradel, Mike Hochradel;
11 grandchildren, and a multitude of great and great great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Wilcox; and brother, Jack (Kathy) Miller; along with many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louie; daughter, Debra Volmar; sons-in-law, Mark Volmar, Melvin Hartford; and grandchildren, Tammy Mae Bost and Brian Volmar; brothers, Jackie Miller and Ervin Perry; sisters, Freda Justice, Edna Fitzgerald, Ruth Kohn, Mildred Perry, and Margaret Conrad.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a rosary service at 130pm. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Friday, October 15, 2021 at 10:30 am in Epiphany of the Lord Parish - St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 729 White Street, Toledo where the family will begin greeting friends at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
