Obituary

Alice J. Pierce Our loving mother and friend, Alice Pierce went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Alice was born June 21, 1934, in Luckey, Ohio. Alice traveled the world over with her husband, Donald Cunningham who was in the Air Force, and their four children. Following their divorce, she lived for many years in Melbourne, Florida where she ran a successful cleaning business until her retirement in 1995 when she moved back to Ohio to care for her mother. She continued her new role as caregiver after the death of her mother by caring for her friend, Alfreda Zuchowski. Alice was a devoted member of Echo Meadows Church of Christ and selflessly gave of her time and energy by visiting the sick and helping those in need whenever possible. In her spare time she wrote wonderful poetry, read books, embroidered and made the best banana cream pie, fudge and carrot cake. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Velma Hamilton Hughes and Willard Hessman, and her grandson, David Zuchowski Jr. Those left to cherish Alice's wonderful love and caring are her children, Lou Ann (David) Zuchowski, Charles M. Cunningham, Terry (Gary) Rothang, Jeffrey M. Cunningham, and her beloved sister, Carol (Ernie) Solar. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and a nephew, each and every one holding a very special place in her heart, as well as her many, many friends and brothers and sisters in Christ at Echo Meadows. The world is a better place for all of us because she was in it. Friends and family may gather for visitation from 2 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio. A service celebrating Alice's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009, at Echo Meadows Church of Christ, 2905 Starr Avenue. Graveside services will be private. For those who wish to remember Alice, please consider the Echo Meadows Church of Christ in lieu of flowers. Visitation: Sunday, 2-8 p.m. Services: Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Echol Meadows Church of Christ
