Alma M. Swartzmiller, 96, of Toledo, Ohio, and formerly of Oregon, Ohio went to be with the Lord April 18, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 15, 1917 to Joseph and Annee (Campeau) Seguin in Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada. In her younger years, Alma grew up on her family farm and later was a school teacher. She taught at various schools including St. Stephen'™s, Tecumseh and Little River School where she was a principal. Alma was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, was an avid card player and bowler. She also enjoyed crocheting, flower and vegetable gardening. Surviving are her sons Mark (Brenda) Swartzmiller and John (Beth) Swartzmiller; grandchildren, Kelly, Julie and Riley Swartzmiller; step-grandchildren, Shannon, Matt, Chris, Sierra, and Katerina; 10 step great-grandchildren. Alma is also survived by many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claire J. Swartzmiller; son, Charles Swartzmiller and siblings, Amanda, Emilie, John, Henri, Denis, Julie, Loretta, Clara, Paul, Rose Marie, Alfonsine, and Cecille. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 am Tuesday, April 22, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home and proceed to St. Ignatius Catholic Church 212 N. Stadium Road, Oregon for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Ignatius Catholic Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
