Alphie C. Saffran passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. She was born in Montreal, Canada on October 19, 1944 to Ralph and Marcella (Blance) LaPraire. She married George W. Saffran on March 24, 1977, who preceded her in death. Alphie enjoyed hosting parties, cooking and entertaining. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends during the holidays. She loved her pets and was an avid book reader. She was well schooled and valued education, working closely with her step grandchildren as grandparent and tutor. Alphie and George shared a brief time together enjoying frequent vacations to Florida, Harbor Springs, MI and other favorite getaways, but most of all, sharing a loving relationship with each other. Alphie is survived by her step-son, James (Connie) Saffran; step-son-in-law Dave Billups; and step-grandchildren, James, Jeffrey, Ryan, Kelly, Charles, and Mark. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-daughter Linda (Saffran) Billups; and step-grandchild, Jacqueline. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 5:00 pm until the time of memorial service at 7:30 pm.
