Alva J. Compton, 94, of Oregon, Ohio passed away May 9, 2012 at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital. He was born in Perrysburg, Ohio on March 30, 1918 to William and Esther (Schramm) Compton. Alva was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was employed at LOF for 30 years, retiring in 1980. Alva was a member of the former Divinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing cards, going for car rides, especially down by the river to watch the boats and ships.
Surviving are his wife, Violet A.; children, Gerald (Darlene) Michael and Jeannette Silver, both of Tennessee; step children, Paul (Charlotte) Rapp, Carol (Robert Sr.) Poiry and Judie (Richard) Askins; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great grand daughter. Alva was preceded in death by his parents;son, William; siblings, Glen, Virginia LuKich and Norma Avery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road from 1-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with interment following in Ft. Meigs Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Alva'™s memory can be made to the charity of the donor'™s choice.
