Alva R. Edens, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 surrounded by his family. Alva was born to Edgar and Roberta (Brown) Edens on May 15, 1942 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He married the love of his life Audrey (Troup) on June 10, 1961. He worked as a machine shop supervisor for Accuworx, formerly known as Met-L-Tech, for 42 years before retiring in 2004. Alva was a dedicated member, elder, and past deacon at Echo Meadows Church, in Oregon, Ohio. He enjoyed gardening, photography, spending winters in Florida, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Audrey of 52 years; children, Brett A., Leslie S. Rygalski, Brian S. (Dawn) Edens of Ft. Myers, Fl; siblings, Joyce (Floyd) Chamberlain, Fred (Lynn) Edens, Terry (Lori) Edens, Tammy (Ryan) Newell; and 7 grandchildren. Alva was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Kennon. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 2:00 -8:00 pm. The family will also greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Echo Meadows Church of Christ, 2905 Starr Ave. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Echo Meadows Church of Christ.
