Andrew A. Horvath, age 68, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025. A devoted brother, uncle, and friend, Andrew lived a life full of passion, service, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
Born on October 30,1956, Andrew was the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Aslos) Horvath. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Horvath. He was raised in the Birmingham neighborhood and attended St. Stephen's and St. Francis de Sales schools before continuing his studies at the University of Toledo. Never one to stop learning, Andrew furthered his education with online courses at both Harvard and MIT.
A proud Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves, Andrew embodied discipline, leadership, and commitment to his county. He was also a lifelong member of VFW Post 4906, where he was a highly active and respected member of the community.
Andrew had a vibrant and adventurous spirit. He loved sailing with his brothers and friends, often finding peace and joy out on the water. He was an avid golfer and a passionate sports fan-loyally cheering on Ohio State football, the Detroit Tigers, and the Cleveland Browns. Music was another cornerstone of his life. He was a gifted musician, playing keyboard, string instruments, and horns with equal talent and enthusiasm.
Andrew is survived by his loving siblings; Mary (Rance) Miller, Charles (Cynthia) Horvath, Joseph (Robin) Horvath, Angela (Sadek) Abdelkader, David (Susan) Horvath, and Stephen Horvath; and brother-in-law, Thomas Garey. He was a beloved uncle to Rance Miller, James Miller, Kevin Miller, John Garey, Ann Garey, Theodore Garey, Charles Garey, Nicholas Horvath, Michael Horvath, Andrew Horvath, Ryan Zam, Jacob Nelson, Jackie Nelson, Jennifer Fox, Nicole Bowen, Ashley Bowen, Jeremy Kemmer, Mia Kemmer. His presence in their lives will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Andrew's life was one of curiosity, generosity and connection. He touched many hearts and left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and integrity.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with a VFW Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, will take place Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Epiphany of the Lord Parish - St. Stephens 1880 Genesee St, Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
