Andrew S. Mata, age 79, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2004, in St. Charles Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 19, 1924, to Andrew and Margaret Mata. He served as a private with the Army Engineers in England. He was a mechanic for 32 years in the Truck Garage at Jeep Corporation. Andy loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael Steven, and his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna, for which they would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on January 31st; his children, Pat (Mel) Rill, Sue (Greg) Hornstein, Andrew Michael Mata, Marge (Don) Egan, Bill (Lucy) Mata; grandchildren, Kim (Jeff) Stevens, Brian Mata, Cory Mata, Shayne Hornstein, Allison Egan and Madeline Egan; great-granddaughter, Tiffy Stevens; brother, Robert Mata of Salem, Arkansas; many special nieces and nephews; very dear friends, Edward and Kathleen Goetz and family, and his loving canine napping buddy, Teddy.
In keeping with Andy's wishes, his body has been cremated and there will be no memorial service. Arrangements are being handled by Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Charles 2nd Floor Vascular Oncology Department, especially Mary Beth, Marti, Mark and Carrie, to Dr. Hegde who took care of him for over 20 years, along with his wonderful nurse, Sue, Dr. Afridi, Dr. Alkhateeb and Dr. Jessup.
