Ann L. Wallace of Millbury, OH was born on August 28, 1944 in Ashland, OH to Rev. Albert and Mrs. Charlene (Ruhlman) Mathias. As a daughter of a minister, she lived in a few different places before the family settled in Toledo, OH where she graduated from Waite High School in 1962. From there she attended Davis Junior College, where she attained an Associates Degree in Business Accounting. Shortly after graduating from Davis, she went to work for National Super Service Company as a bookkeeper, which she did for 15 years.
She met her husband, Rufus E. Wallace, in 1966, shortly after his discharge from the U.S. Navy. They both were attending Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church (now known as Salem United Methodist) in East Toledo at the time. They were married on September 11, 1971 with her father Rev. Mathias officiating the union. For many years Ann and Rufus were active members of Salem, with both singing in the choir.
With the birth of their daughter Deborah, she happily became a doting housewife, which also included being the family accountant. Over the course of about 15 years, Ann visited 47 states on many long family vacations, mostly by car, with one trip by airplane and train. One of her favorite things to do during the holiday season was to drive around different neighborhoods after Christmas Eve service at church to look at all of the Christmas lights and displays. Later in life she enjoyed reading, doing many word search puzzle books, occasionally crossword puzzles, and watching her soap operas.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Rufus, their daughter Deborah, her sister Nancy Davis (Glenn), nieces Sherri Gill (John Mills), Dawn Scott-Lucio (Steve), Lori Hudson (Doug), many great-nieces and nephews, and many Wallace family in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Charlene, and her great-nephew Brandon.
