Anne Payeff, age 91, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on April 1, 2005, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born March 14, 1914, in Mavro Kambo, Macedonia, to Dorothy and Chris Karstoff. Together with her family they came to the United States when she was three years old. They established their home in Elyria, Ohio, and moved shortly after to Detroit, Michigan. There she met and married her husband John on November 7, 1933. Together they owned and operated two successful businesses in East Toledo for many years, the Best Restaurant and the Rooster Inn. Anne was a member of St. Clement Orthodox Church in Dearborn, Michigan.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John, and sister, Clara Shutcoff. Anne is survived by her sons, Robert (Ann), Ronald (Helen) and Gary; sister, Sophie Labroff; grandchildren, Rick (Laurie), Mark (Jennifer), Sandra, John (Julie), Sherri (Tony) and Karen (Matthew); great-grandchildren, Brandon, Matthew, Nickolas, Jason and Jessica, and one niece and several nephews. She will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
Friends and family may visit from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2005, in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Anne's name may be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor's choice.
