Anthony John 'œTony' Carlo, Sr., 86, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 12, 2013 surrounded by his wife, Jeannette, and their children.
Tony was born in Toledo, OH on June 10, 1926. He started his life in Oregon Township, attending Coy Elementary School through the 8th grade, later graduating from Macomber High School. Tony met his future wife Jeannette, at the outdoor roller rink at Pearson Park, marrying her on April 14, 1951. His family started on their first farm on Hill Avenue in Toledo, before moving back to his current home and farm in Oregon. For many years Tony enjoyed raising vegetables, selling them downtown at the Toledo Farmers Market with the help of his wife and children. Along with years of working on his family farm, he also drove a truck for Carolina Freight Company. He was a hard-working man who instilled a strong work ethic and sense of family values in his children.
Tony was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years. His gruff manner masked a wonderful sense of humor, and he was well liked by all who knew him. He joined the American Legion to celebrate his belief in service to his country. His retirement hobby of woodworking enabled him to make many cherished gifts for his family. His grandchildren enjoyed spending time at the farm and helping in the smaller garden he raised later in life.
Tony is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannette (Zahs) and their children Michael (Aruna), Carol (Jeff) Felderman, Vicky (Steve) Krout, Kelley (Allen) Allred, and Anthony Jr. (Angel). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Gregory, Amanda, Allen, Stephanie, Christine, Anthony 'œRex' III, Giovanni, and Catrina, and great grand-children, Dominic, Zachary, and Jonathan. His sisters, Angie, Mary, and Giovanna also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Angelina and brothers, Peter and Dominick.
