Arlene A. Fangman, 71, of Northwood, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, after a battle with cancer for the past five years. Arlene was born in Toledo on August 16, 1932, to Garrett and Grace (Conrad) George. On December 26, 1953, she married the love of her life, Gene Fangman, who survives. When Arlene and Gene were first married, he bought her a Harley Motorcycle which she loved to ride. Arlene had worked for Shaw-Kendell Engineering as a secretary. She furthered her education and became a LPN working for St. Charles Hospital. Arlene then became a veterinarians tech working with a local vet. With her love for animals she and her husband became members of the Toledo Kennel Club, raising, training and showing St. Bernard's, Pomeranians and Poodles. She and her husband also owned and operated the Toledo Motel until they sold the business. They traveled extensively in the United States with their motor home stopping at every state except Hawaii and Alaska. Besides her husband, Gene, she is survived by sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara George, Audrey and Ed Berger, Evelyn and Gene Hancock and Glen Kansorka Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Audrey Kansorka; brother, Ken George. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH, on Tuesday, from 2-9 p.m. where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Williston Cemetery, Allen Township.
