Arlene M. (Reinier) Van Nest passed away peacefully on April 12, 2013. She was born on April 7, 1917 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Clarence and Marie Reiner. The most important thing in her life was her family. She held various jobs during her life and retired as a stenographer from the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union in the late 1970'™s. She loved making beautiful things for her family. Crocheting, needlework and sewing for her grandchildren were just a few of her many talents.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Van Nest; mother, Marie Mott; father, Clarence Reinier; brother, Eugene Reinier; sister, Mable Gauthier; daughters-in-law, Patricia Duke and Connie Van Nest.
Arlene is survived by her brother, Gerald Reinier of Ottumwa, Iowa; children, William Duke of Las Cruces, NM, Dana Nissen of Clay Center, OH, Steven Van Nest of Oregon, OH, Lin (Julie) Van Nest of Curtice, OH and stepson, Ronald Van Nest of Bay Village, OH. She has 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The family wishes to thank all of Arlene'™s caregivers while in hospice care and also her caregivers at Orchard Villa for treating her with utmost kindness and love.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S,. Coy Road, Oregon OH and where her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be private at Historical Woodlawn Cemetery. Remembrances can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in lieu of flowers.
