Arthur S. Beck Jr., 99, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Valley Hospice Care Center, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born in Lancaster, PA on December 5, 1911 to Arthur and Catherine (Koerner) Beck Sr. Art had been employed as a records clerk at Owens Illinois before his retirement in 1977. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, G.B.U., Owens Retirees, Oakshade Grove Retirees and Paragon Lodge F &AM. Mr. Beck enjoyed volunteering at Mercy St. Charles Hospital and did so for over 33 years. Surviving are his daughter, Joan (Jose) Martinez; brother, Richard Beck; grandchildren, Ronald Diefenthaler, Lori (Victor) Ferdinand, Lisa (Bruce) Czwakiel; great grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew, Neil, Jacob, Nathan, Caleigh, Andrew and Thomas. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Naomi; daughter, Phyllis Diefenthaler; brother, Paul Beck. Friends may visit at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday from 2 to 8 pm pm. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 am in St. Mark Lutheran Church, Elmore and Woodville Road. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
