Arthur McGovern, 76, of Toledo, lost his courageous 3 ½ year battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 12th surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was born July 13, 1934 in Toledo to Arthur & Gladys McGovern. He was a service station dealer for many years and had the honor of serving as President of the Toledo Gasoline Dealers Association. Most recently, he was a salesman for TBA of Adrian, Michigan. Art loved to travel, cheer on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at all events, and was an avid Detroit Red Wings and Tigers fan. Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia; daughters, Cathy (Michael) Kosakowski, Sandra (Thomas) Sutherland; grandchildren Kristie (Donnie) Stevens, Sarah (Joshua) Smith, Emily (Kyle) Sutherland, and Steve Sutherland. The lights of his life were his great grandchildren, Sebastian and Tobias Stevens; and Zachary and Samantha Smith. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Phyllis Bolton, Lillian (John) Smith, Charles McGovern, and Donna (Ronald) Miller. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, October 14th from 2-8pm at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon. Funeral Services will be conducted 9:00am Friday in the funeral home with interment following at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania.
