Arthur "Bud"
Steingraber
August 11, 1938 – December 24, 2022
Arthur "Bud" Steingraber of Eagles Landing, Oregon Ohio, died on December 24, 2022. Bud was surrounded by his loving family and their spouses for several weeks prior to his passing. They laughed, they cried and reminisced, sharing stories of all the good times the family had enjoyed. When Bud married Kathy in 1955, he would always say that he didn't just get a wife, but he gained a whole very large family.
Bud was born to Gustave and Isabella Steingraber on August 11, 1938. They lived on Oak Street in a unique concrete Triangle Building at the corner of Steadman Street. Both parents preceded Bud in death along with his Father and Mother-in-law, Mace and Ella (Granger) Odneal; sister-in-law, Patricia Odneal Reihing.
Bud was born and raised in East Toledo. He attended Raymer and Franklin elementary schools, graduating from Franklin. Bud attended Waite High School through most of his senior year. After attending the Com Tech Campus at UT majoring in Social Work and serving his internship at St. Anthony's Villa, he also completed his High School degree during that same period.
Bud joined Steve Contos, Bob Momsen and Ray Wood at Macomber High School as the first paid non-teaching Varsity Coach in Toledo Public Schools. Bud's life was full. He belonged to; Toledo Metro Umpire Assoc., Harbor View Yacht Club, Southside Sportsmen, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Port Lawrence Masonic Lodge, Tri State Rodeo Association.
Bud had an amazing full life. As a young teenager at Franklin School. Bud fractured a hip when hitting a brick wall in the gym during a sixth-grade basketball game. Part of his rehab included horseback riding. That brought him a love of the horse world and rodeo riding. He spent a few years riding with the Glass City Saddle Club with folks who would become lifelong friends. He soon joined the Tri State Rodeo Association where he entered and placed or won several bare back and brahma bull riding events. After two children and third on the way, and working a full time job at LOF Glass for the previous five years, Bud hung up his spurs and became the finest full time husband, father and glassworker. One of his former workers while he was an hourly Foremen said "Bud was the best Foremen you could ever work for. I was a crane operator for three years on the third shift loading trucks, picking up 32 large glass pieces at one time, 4 bundles to a truck. Bud would work right beside us to get the jobs done." That was Bud. Always carried his load and yours if he could!
Bud and Kathy had four children. His entire family remained loyal and true to East Toledo. His children are Kim Conrad (Dennis), Dan (Colleen), Ken (Rene), Joel (Beth Kiger) Steingraber.
