Audrey Rader, an east Toledo resident, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Genacross of Toledo Lutheran Home, surrounded by her loving family. Audrey was born on a farm near Elmore, Ohio on March 2, 1927 to Jacob and Verna (Damschroeder) Giesler. She loved being outside and spent most of her time doing outside chores. She was confirmed at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Elmore at the age of 14.She began singing with the choir when she was 16 and continued that throughout her life. She graduated second in her class from Harris-Elmore High School in 1945 and moved to Toledo for a position at Liberty Mutual Insurance for 4 years. In 1948 she was joined in marriage to Don Rader of rural Fremont. They lived and worked in Toledo and were blessed with two sons, Tom and Jeff. Tom graduated Waite High School in 1968 and now resides in Rossford. We were saddened in 1968 when our beloved Jeff passed away at age 15. Audrey was very active at her church Memorial UCC. She sang in the choir and participated in many other organizations. She also published the church paper for many years, retiring from that just recently. Audrey returned to work in 1966 at the Toledo Board of Education as a secretary until her retirement in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald; son, Jeffrey; sister, Garland, brother, Myron and their spouse Ralph and Suzanne respectively. Audrey is survived by her son, Thomas (Loretta) Rader; granddaughters, Debra (Eddie) and Anne (Donald) along with 9 great-grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22, from 12 noon until 8:00 pm. at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon where her funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, August 23. Interment will follow in Harris Elmore Union Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Memorial United Church of Christ or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
