August E. "Augie" Lofquist, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the Perrysburg Care and Rehabilitation Center. Augie was born in Red Cliff, Colorado on March 1, 1924, to Ragnar and Olga (Ring) Lofquist. He was employed with the former Hettrick Manufacturing/National Ca-nvas for many years and most recently as a sales clerk with Lagrange Builder Supply for 17 years retiring in 1994. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537. Augie also was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where he served as Elder, Financial Secretary, Sunday School Teacher and Dartball Team Captain (53 years). Surviving are his daughter, Linda (John) Maiani; sons, Loren and Keith (Adele) Lofquist; brother, Robert Lofquist; sisters, Viola Harris and Eleanor Ludwig; grandchildren, Mary (Mark) Talle, Ted (Andrea) Mitchell, Christopher (Breena) Lofquist, Cole and Cory Lofquist; great-grand-children, William and Charles Mitchell, Megan Talle, Zachary and Allyson Maiani. Preceding him in death were his parents and wife of 59 years, Bernadine (Joehlin) Lofquist and brother, Ragnar Jr. Friends and relatives will be received at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Ave., on Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman St., Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Augie's memory may be made to either St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
