Obituary

This world was given the gift of Barbara Jean Gall- McCloskey on September 30, 1948. The Lord called Barbara back to heaven on July 22, 2022. Barbara was raised in the Birmingham Hungarian neighborhood and went to Morrison R Waite High School where she excelled as a lead soprano voice in her high school choir. She carried her love of music, and her vocal abilities, to Holy Rosary church as a cantor, and choir member for many years, but unfortunately she was unable to continue singing with her husband and family obligations. She was a wife and mother first, making a wonderful home. When Barbara's children were older, she started to utilize her talents as a caregiver by caring for children in her home, and then onto working in a childcare center. Barbara considered volunteering in her church very important and was inspired by Sr. Magdalena Pohlman, NDA to work with young adults and families studying to become Catholic through the churches RCIA program. She also helped share weekly gospel reading during Sunday masses at the children's liturgy. Her loving and generous heart has made an impact on young people who would continue to stop and greet her regularly. Giving hugs and remembering their time with Ms. Barb, or Grandma Barb. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Joseph Gall, also her brother Robert and sisters Mary Block, and Patricia Lewis. Barbara leaves behind he devoted husband of 55 years, Robert McCloskey, and her loving children Lori McCloskey (Shane), Pamela McGarey (Jeff), and Corey McCloskey (Alicia). She will be especially missed by her grandchildren, Nicholas, Gabriel and Natalie Champagne, Summer, Taylor and Casen McCloskey. She will be forever mourned by her sisters Katherine Galatocky (Richard), Margaret Lawrence, and Linda Veres (Paul), and Best Friend Christina Nusbaum (Michael): Special Family Loved One, Shane Clark; and numerus nieces and nephews. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, July 25 2022 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, July 26 at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Parish – St. Stephens, 1880 Genessee Street, Toledo, OH 43605 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Her family would like to say a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and medical staff of St Charles, and St Vincent's Mercy Medical Centers, and to the amazing physicians, and caregivers at the Oregon Clinic, and Toledo Cardiology for all of the wonderful support and special care given throughout Barbara's illness.
