Obituary

Bea, Young, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and "Auntie Bea" to all who knew her, died peacefully Thursday, June 17, 2004, after a long illness, with her family by her side. Born October 20, 1923, in Toledo, Bea's greatest joys came from spending time with her dear friends and family. Many of Bea's best days were spent at the family's Reno Beach home, the home she shared with her loving husband, Stanley "Brigg" Young, of 45 years. Time spent laughing, swimming, traveling, and especially cooking are among her most memoralbe activities. Bea's food was always eagerly anticipated by friends, neighbors and fellow church-goers. Bea grew up in South Toledo attending Beverly Elementary and graduating form Libbey High School in 1941. She met Brigg dancing one night and upon his return from WWII they were married in 1941. Soon after sons, Mark Allen and Jan Erik were born. Beak worked as a telephone operator at Owens-Illinois for many years. After her retirement, she spent time volunteering for the American Cancer Society. Bea provided support to breast cancer patients being a survivor herself. Planning high school and even kindergarten reunions were a source of nostalgic joy for Bea. She also ejoyed time with the St. Luke's "Kum Dubls" club. Bea and Brigg were active members at St. Luke's Lutheran Curch in Curtice, Ohio giving their time and energy to those in need. Bea is survived by her dovoted husband of 60 years, Stanley "Brigg" Young; sons, Mark (Lorraine Lindley) Young of Eueka, CA; and Jan Erik (Judy) Young of Toledo. Five granddaughters, Kristen Young of Settle, WA; Kathryn Young of Chicago, IL; Brett Young, Addie Young, and Blythe Young all of Eureka, CA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Elsie Payne, brother, Alfred "Bud" Payne and sister Louise Ulrich. Visitation will be Sunday, June 20, at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Road in Oregon from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Memorial and funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 20 S. Yondota Rd., Curtice, OH. Visitation at the church will be from 10-11:00 a.m. with fuernal services at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend a luncheon at the church immediately after the service. Interment will follow the luncheon at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery, 6382 Monroe St., Slyvania, OH. The family requests donations to be made in Bea's name to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, The American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice, organizations which played a large part in her life.
