Beatrix M. Bertok, 87, of Oregon, OH, left this world on May 1, 2009, to be with her beloved Gubb whom preceded her in death on November 13, 2003. Bea was surrounded by family and many, many friends. To know Bea was to love her, as a harsh word was never spoken. She always believed in the good of all people and with her faith in God beside her, she never gave up on anyone. She was born in Wabash, Indiana on October 10, 1921, to Robert and Letitia (Perry) Palmer. Bea was a member of O.E.S. and Calvin United Church of Christ. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Elvis Gospel music, poker, cooking, baking (best lemon bars in the world) and her Thursday dinners prepared by family friend, John Koontz. Bea also loved her visits to her hairdresser, Maria and all the girls at Shear Pleasure. She is survived by her loving daughter, Gay Nixon; grandchildren, Christine (Michael) Paiz, Kim Starcher, former daughter-in-law, Gwen Pitzen and Eric (Heather) Pitzen; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Christopher (Danielle) and Brittany (Ronnie); great- great-grandchildren, Michael Gabriel (Little Gubb) Starcher and Skyla (Shu Shu) Starcher; sister-in-law, Sarah Porter and many loving nieces and nephews; faithful companions, Luna and Milo and six very special women who were like daughters to her, Nancy, Janice, Sonya, Buffy, Kimmer and especially her little Ruthi. Bea was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gabriel; daughter, Beatrix; great-great-grandson, Cameron Michael Paiz. Honoring Bea's wishes a memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Calvin United Church of Christ where the family will greet visitors after 10 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bea's memory can be made to Calvin United Church of Christ or the Toledo Humane Society. Arrangements are being handled by the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Homes.
