Benjamen Tino Madrid, 44, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away in his home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on January 17, 1977 to Tino and Kimo (Perez) Madrid. He graduated from Waite High School and went on to obtain several certifications from Owens Community College. On October 28, 2000 he married his High School sweetheart, Kelly (Horvath). Ben worked at Toledo Correctional Institution as a Correctional Officer from the day it opened 21 years ago. He had many passions in life from being a great cook, cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes, running the chain gang at Waite High School Football games and being Treasurer of his Waite Class of 1996. Ben was a history buff, always fascinated with airplanes and military. He spent a lot of time volunteering and being a part of his children's activities. He coached the Oakdale Football team for years and took great pride in coaching his daughter's travel softball team, The Shamrocks. He changed many lives of the youths that he coached. He was also the band President for the Clay Parents Association. Ben also enjoyed the time he spent camping with family and friends. He was a loveable, laughable character, always lighting up any room he walked into. Although many will miss his great big hugs, Ben's spirit will live on through all that knew and loved him, including the Airborne Family.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kelly; children, Kaylee, Carmen and Tino; dog, Bucky; parents, Tino and Kimo; sister, Jessica (Bert Cory); nieces, Destiny (Brandon) and Annesa; nephew, Nathaniel; 3 great-nephews, Braxton, Mark and Declan; mother-in-law, Karen (Hank); and sisters-in-laws, Kristy (Justen) and Stacey (Jay). He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ron and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on, Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm. and on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
