Benjamin (Ben) Methena, 70, of Oregon, OH passed away March 8, 2008 at Heartland of Oregon. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 19, 1937 to John and Dorothy (Large) Methena. Ben was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Libbey Owens Ford, after 32 years, and bartended at Maumee Bay State Park Resort for 19 years. Ben enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, especially poker, visiting the casinos and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians.
Surviving are his loving wife, Betty DePetris Methena, whom he married April 20, 2007; daughter, Julie Methena; sons, Shane (Robin) Methena, Tracy (Lisa) Methena, IN, Blake (Lauren) Methena, VA; sister, Diana Chasteen; half-sister, Beth Cuervo; twin brother, Bill (Kay) Methena; brother, John Methena; half-brothers, Jim Sharp and Mike Methena; grandsons, Trevor, Travis, Kyle and one soon to be born in May; 8 step-children; 15 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandsons; best friend, Bob Bronson. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Terry and James, and sister, Judy Kohli.
In accordance with Bens wishes there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. where the family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service. Contributions in Bens memory may be made to the charity of the donors choice. Ben was a friend to all and will be dearly missed.
