Obituary

Bernard Frost Kohnke, 86, a lifelong resident of east Toledo and of Oregon, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 21, 2003 at St. Charles-Mercy Hospital. Bernie , as he was known to his friends, was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler. After retiring from Standard Oil Refinery, (Now BP) he and his late wife Marie relocated to Arcadia, Florida, returning to Oregon in 1993. Bernie served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was a member of the Christ Dunberger Legion Post where he served in the Rifle Squad and Color Guard. Bernie was also a 50 year member of the Lotus Masonic Lodge #625 F & AM. He is survived by his daughters, Jean (Jon) Baker, Connie (Donald) Deal; grandchildren, Mark Baker, Randy (Terry) Baker, Kim (Tom) Thorp, Todd (Jill) Deal, Keri (Jon) Walsh, Troy Deal; 10 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-9 pm at the Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon where Christ Dunberger services will be held at 7:00 pm.. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Bernie's memory are asked to consider the Christ Dunberger Post or the Donor's choice.
