With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bernard E. "Bernie" Weiss, age 83, of Oregon, OH, who left us peacefully, Monday April 30, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Bernie was born June 10, 1934 in Toledo, OH. He graduated from Libbey High. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and golf. Bernie was an avid bowler and enjoyed cookouts and spending time with family and friends. He loved sitting on the porch with his Oregon Village family. An avid sports fan, Bernie rooted for his Cleveland Indians and Green Bay Packers, having attended several games.
Bernie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an instructor at the National School of Meat Cutting/Kurtz Meat Market in downtown Toledo, OH for many years.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Cathie (MacVay); children Tracy (Dave) Carman, Bernie (Alisha) Weiss, extended family Alicia Weiss and her children Johnny, Olivia, and Grayson; grandson Ryan and his children Carter and Autumn; siblings Rose, Miriam, and Merle, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Leroy), and granddaughter (Mikayla).
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Tara Robinson, Dr. Nagi Bishira, St. Charles CHF Clinic led by Sam and Lori, the Heartland of Oregon, and the Hospice of Northwest Ohio for always having Bernie's quality of life at heart.
The family will receive guests starting at 10:00 am for a celebration of life with services at 1:30 pm Saturday May 5, 2018 at Eggleston, Meinert & Pavley located at 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH (Burial will be private).
