Bernice M. Gardull, 95, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on September 12, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born the last of 13 children on September 17, 1921 to Abraham and Isabella (Brown) Mariea. Bernice graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1939 and has been a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church since 1952. In 1948 she married John E. Gardull and he preceded her in death in April of 2014. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts as well as a participant in many local and traveling bowling leagues for over 43 years. A highlight for Bernice came in 1990 when she traveled to the Shrine of the Blessed Virgin in Medjugorje in the former Yugoslavia.
Bernice is survived by her children, Thomas Gardull, Jacqueline (Mark) Lindner, Patrick Gardull, Frank (Mandy) Gardull, Anthony (Sue) Gardull; grandchildren, John Gardull, Marie Gardull - Cortez,, Brandon, Anthony Jr., Cayce, Carly, Samantha; 5 great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Siegrid (Ingo) Hobein of Bremen, Germany; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Peter in 2009; 12 siblings.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Epiphany of the Lord – St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 729 White St., Toledo on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. where the family will greet visitors beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
