Betty J. Szombati, 84, of Rossford, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Lake Park Care Center. Betty was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 3, 1925 to William and Mary (Smarkol) Wood. Prior to retiring Betty had worked as an executive secretary for Inland Chemical and most recent for J. C. Andrus and Associates. Betty was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are her daughters, Jill (Scott) Gauthier and Connie (John) Moss; grandchildren, David (Amber) Moss and John Moss, Jordan, Cassidy, Hannah and Logan Gauthier; sister, Patricia Loeffler; brothers, Raymond (Prudy), James (Gayle) Wood. Betty jitterbugged her way through life and was also known to play a mean game of "Go, Fish." She was silly and funny and, even where she shopped, everyone knew her by name. As the years went by and she was unable to do the things she had always loved, she was still happy with her puzzle book, Diet Pepsi and Hershey bars, no almonds please. She was also a great colorer - just ask her grandchildren. Mom you will be missed. Graveside Services will be held in Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Betty's memory are asked to consider ProMedica Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home.
