Obituary

Beverly June Lanning "Grammy," 92, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 with her loving husband of 72 years by her side. Hiram J. Lanning Jr. "Paw," 95 of Oregon, Ohio would join his beloved wife, whom he loved so dearly, passing away on December 29, 2022 less than 32 hours later. She was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio on June 6, 1930 to Nevin and Ida (Boals) Sindlinger and he was born on January 25, 1927 in Logan, Ohio to Hiram and Alice (Lehman) Lanning Sr. Shortly after graduating from high school, Beverly married the love of her life, Hiram Lanning Jr. on July 9, 1950. Hiram knew from the first moment he saw Beverly that she would be his life-long partner. She worked as a teller for People's Bank which would later become, Charter One and loved to cook and bake. She loved to sew, everything from quilts, blankets, clothes, teddy bears and much more. Beverly also enjoyed her garden and gardening and had a special place in her heart for violets and finding four leaf clovers. Beverly was always a caregiver, making sure to help whenever possible. Hiram graduated from Macomber High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII. After being honorably discharged, he worked at Girkins Electric as a supervisor for 42 years, retiring in 1992. After his retirement he taught at Owens Tech for a few years. He enjoyed watching westerns, had a passion for woodworking, repairing electronics, but always tinkering with something. Beverly and Hiram were devoted to each other and loved nothing more than spending time with their family. Both did a tremendous amount of charity work for Helping Hands over the years. They were members of Faith United Methodist Church where they were always very active, volunteering for different events and meals over their many years. Beverly and Hiram's love story was one for the movies, and as we mourn the loss of our beloved parents and grandparents, we find solace knowing that they are still together.

They are survived by their son, Tim (Sherry) Lanning; daughter, Laurie (John) Walkowiak Jr.; grandchildren, Nevin (Rachael) Lanning, Krysta Walkowiak, Tesia (Ray) Rivera, Danielle (Jeramy) Szmansky, Andrew (Kim) Lanning; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Bernadine Sindlinger.
