Bill V. Douge, 78, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2005, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Bill, a lifelong resident of the Toledo/Oregon area, enjoyed spending winters at his second home in Florida. He was an Army veteran of WWII and worked 35 years as a locomotive engineer for the former Toledo Terminal Railroad, retiring in 1986. For 30 years, he served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley L.; children, Cynthia (Rick Sr.) Lauch and Daniel Douge; brother, Thomas (Jamie) Douge; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Viola Douge and sister, Karen Shull.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Honoring Bill's request, funeral services and burial in N. Oregon Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Northwest Ohio would be appreciated. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio along with the nurses at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for their loving care, and especially to Dr. Pooran Barman for many years of miracles.
