Birthel "Ted" Jeffries Jr., 84, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Parkcliffe Memory Care of Northwood. He was born in Moline, Ohio on December 25, 1941 to Birthel and Katherine (Mason) Jeffries. Ted was a graduate of Clay High School, 1960. He went on to earn his master's degree in business management from the University of Toledo. He retired after 35 years of service from Chrysler's Jeep Truck Engineering.
On June 22, 1963 he married his best friend and love of his life, Carol (Schiavone) who would precede him in death. Together they were happiest when they were able to host and entertain family and lifelong friends, both at their home and cottage. One of their greatest joys was being able to travel with a purpose, whether it be to spend time with family and friends or enjoying the adventure of making new friends and memories. They enjoyed fellowship and worship at Calvary Lutheran Church. The greatest joy that Ted had in life was being able to share and celebrate his life with Carol.
Ted served on the Genoa School Board for many years. He was always active and invested in his children and grandchildren and always had their interest at heart. He enjoyed making wine, birding, fishing and was a football fanatic, from high school to professional. Ted never forgot a person once he knew them except, possibly, their name. Ted was always willing to lend a helping hand and help solve a problem, whether you asked for the help or not.
Family and friends knew well the gleam in Ted's eye and his devilish grin.
He is survived by his son, Roger (Jennifer Pilzecker) Jeffries; daughter, Ann Jeffries; grandchildren, Brian Jeffries, Sara and Samantha Welch; great-grandchildren, Michael and Mazlynn Lee; siblings; Lee (Cathy) Jeffries, Jay (Judy) Jeffries, Shirley (Larry) Loy, Jack Jeffries, Dwight (Cindy) Jeffries, Ronnie (Glenn) Jeffries, David Jeffries. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; siblings, Dan Jeffries, Connie Jeffries, Terry Jeffries; sisters-in-law, Lori and Jackie Jeffries.
The family would like to thank the staff and Parkcliffe and Care360 Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. Your ability to bring light to people in their darkest hours is simply amazing.
The family will greet friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Rd., Millbury, Ohio 43447 on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
