Blaine K. Goetz 95 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Genacross Lutheran Home of Toledo, with his loving daughter by his side. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 25 1922 to William and Grace (Drayton) Goetz. Blaine was a graduate of the 1940 class from Macomber High School. He served in the United States Army with the 540th Army engineers. After his time in Africa and Europe, Blaine came back to the U.S. and continued working for Westinghouse. It was here where he met the love of his life, Helen (Kiss) and they married on June 14, 1947. Helen preceded him in death in 2010. He also worked for the Norwalk truckline and would retire from Foodtown in 1988 after 20 years. Blaine was a life member of the VFW 4906, serving as chaplain for many years. Blaine was a member of Epiphany of the Lord Parish-St. Stephens Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister for many years. He loved traveling with his wife and daughter.
Blaine is survived by his daughter Diane Goetz; nephews, Paul Jacso, Gary Kiss, James (Sherrie) Kiss, Robert (Ruth) Kiss; niece, Ruth (Ron) Euton; and great nieces and nephews; close friends, Paul (Carolyn) Hecklinger and family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Eggleston-Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio 43616 on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 2-8 pm with recitation of the rosary at 4 pm. and VFW services at 7 pm. The family will receive friends at 1880 Genesee St. Toledo, Ohio 43605, Epiphany of the Lord Parish-St. Stephens Church on Saturday, from 10:00 am until Mass of a Christian burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Epiphany of the Lord Parish, Helping Hands of St. Louis or Genacross Lutheran Services of Toledo. A special thanks to the staff at Genacross Lutheran Home Toledo Campus and the second floor nurses and aides for their compassionate care of Blaine.
