Obituary

Once again the Lord has called one of his angels home…. Bonnylynn Mars, 82, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on May 7, 2009 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born to Evelyn and Paul Bartlebaugh, who are deceased. She attended Clay High School. She had worked for the down-town Lamson Brothers while attending the University of Toledo. She worked for the Lane Drug Chain for 30 years, where she became their first female manager in 1968. In 1989 Rite Aid purchased the chain. She retired in 1991. In 1992 she went to work for a food broker, servicing McCormick Spices in the Meijer's stores. She had many interests, such as sewing, crafts, knitting and her love of cats. She was a long time member of the Oregon Business/Professional Women's Local (holding many office and committee seats). She was a member of the Westmoor Board, the Ladies Swiss Society, the St. Charles Mercy Auxiliary (holding many office and committee seats), Samagama, and worked for many years as an election official for Lucas County. In her spare time she was a volunteer at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. Bonnylynn was a member of First St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, James G.; daughter, Lynn (Dave) Slaughter of Oregon, Ohio; son, James Lynn (Karen) of Florida; loving granddaughters who called her Mi Maw, Jenai Lynn, Kristi Marie, and Britlyn Jean Slaughter; step-granddaughter, Danielle Slaughter of Illinois; step-sisters, Kay (Ted) Csizek of Oregon, Judy (Jack) Gladish of California; half-sisters, Linda Butterfield of Florida. She was preceded in death by her sister, Janice McRitchie; mother, Evelyn Power; step-father, Phillip Power; half-sister, Nancy. To her many long-time friends and loving family she leaves the request: When I am gone, cry for me a little, think of me sometimes. Think of the good times we shared. It is not good to allow thoughts to dwell on the dead. Leave me in peace- while you live, and let your thoughts be with the living. I will miss you all and love you all. Keep me in your hearts. I loved my family with all my heart. I was always a people person. Friends and family may visit the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Oregon, Ohio on Sunday, May 10, 2009 from 4-8 pm with funeral services conducted on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 11 am in the funeral home.
