Obituary

Buddy A. Christy, 73, of Oregon, OH, passed away April 3, 2004, in The Toledo Hospital. He was born on March 11, 1931, in Ney, OH, to Lester and Doris Mary (Harmon) Christy. He graduated from Sherwood Delaware High School in 1949 and RETS Electronic School. Buddy married Patricia Ann Heilshorn of Defiance in 1950 and served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Bud was a member of Christ Dunberger Post and a past trustee and member of Salem United Methodist Church. He worked for Welders Needs and was then employed for 25 years at Buckeye CableSystem as a supervisor before retiring in 1993. He also was the owner of Bud's Radio and TV Repair. Bud was very active in sports and was the coach for the Bunny Bread Little League Baseball Team of Defiance, the Raymer Indians of Toledo and the East Toledo Merchants Softball Team winning the city title in 1980. Bud also volunteered at many Owens Corning 201 functions. Bud and Pat enjoyed their time together and had traveled to all 50 states. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia; sons, Dennis Lee (Karen) of Curtice, OH, and Mark Alan of Carlsbad, CA; grandchildren, Heather Lynn of Oregon, Dayna Leigh and Brett Alan of Curtice and Melissa Jeanne of Escondido, CA, and sister-in-law, Gertrud Harmon of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norman. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH, on Monday, April 5, 2004, from 4-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 4-9 p.m. where an American Legion Service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Ave., on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Allen Township Cemetery. Contributions in Bud's memory can be made to Salem UMC or the Genoa Varsity Baseball Team. Buddy's family would like to thank Dr. Newton and the ER staff at Bay Park Community Hospital, the Oregon EMS Unit, the Toledo Helicopter Unit and Dr. Zachary and the medical staff at Toledo Hospital.
