Burton B. Tank, 81, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Burt was born on December 28, 1927, in Bono, Ohio to Emery and Emma (Schanke) Tank. He was employed as a welder for 32 years with the Gulf Oil Refinery retiring in 1976. After his retirement, he worked several years as a welder for Fondessy Enterprises and Jeffers Crane. Burt also was a member of the Democratic Club and First St. John Lutheran Church. During his younger years, he raced cars on the Dirt Track and was past champion of Fremont Raceway. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Virginia R.; daughter, Brenda A. Tank; surrogate daughter, Diana Holt and sister, Virginia (Jim) Dancer and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives will be received at the Eggleston-Meinert - Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Ave., on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 1 p.m. in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman St., Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Burt's memory may be made to either Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Genoa Care Center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
