C. Gayland (Tex) Lasater, 74, of Oregon and formerly of north Toledo, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 12, 2003 in Bay Park Hospital after a long and courageous battle with Myasthenia Gravis and Parkinson's Disease. Gayland was born May 11, 1929 to Claud and Esther (Campbell) Lasater in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from Waite High School in 1947 and married Mary "Mikie" Zarn on February 12, 1954. Gayland was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, and retired from the Gulf Oil Toledo Refinery in 1970 due to illness. In spite of his illness, he was very active in the school activities of his children. Gayland was a member of Heritage Christian Church and their Seniors Group, and a former member of Emmanuel
Baptist Church.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Mary "Mikie"; children, Rebecca (Jerry) Huth, Cristopher (Kim) Lasater, Julie (Greg) Brandon; grandchildren, Ambre (Chad) DeFriece, Gabe Huth, Cris, Candy and Chelsea Lasater, Lindsey, Katie and Steven Brandon; sister, Dorothy Sattler and brother, Richard (Sally) Lasater. He was
preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2003 from 2-9 p.m. at the Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home, Coy
Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH. Funeral services will be conducted in Heritage Christian Church,
1640 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2003. Final resting place will be in Lake Township Cemetery. Any contributions can be made to the Heritage Christian Seniors Group. "Daddy".
