Carl E. Franklin Sr., 86, of Millbury, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 15, 1925 to Arthur and Celia (Riley) Franklin. On February 14, 1945, he married the love of his life, LaJean Schultz and they were looking forward to their 67th wedding anniversary. Carl was a US Navy Veteran of WW II. He was employed as a steam boiler engineer for over 40 years, retiring in 1991. Throughout his working career, he worked St. Mary'™s Convent in Monroe, MI, Mercy Hospital, and as a district examiner for the State of Ohio. He was a longtime member of the Shrine, Eastern Star, and Masonic Lodge. Carl will be remembered for his devotion to his family. He was always willing to listen to others, and will be deeply missed.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, LaJean; children, Chyrl (Tom) Knapp, Yvonne (John) Broadway, and Carleen Franklin; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Carl Franklin Jr.; sisters, Bernice, Lucille, and Stella; and brothers, Floyd and Clayton.
Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 pm. Masonic Lodge services will be held 7:00 pm Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor'™s choice or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. 'œGod be willing- We'™ll meet again'™.
