Carl D. Nitz, 85, of Toledo, Ohio passed away May 12, 2011 at Foundation Park Care Center. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 12, 1925 to Harold and Bessie (Straits) Nitz. Carl was a U.S. Navy veteran and served his country during World War II. He had been employed by the Babcock Dairy Company for 21 years, retiring in 1987. Carl was a former member of Good Shepherd Church in St. Ignace, MI and of Trinity Episcopal in Toledo, Ohio. Surviving are his children, Mary Nitz of Bluffton, OH, Christopher Nitz of Toledo, OH, Carolyn (Leo) Schnapp of Graytown, OH , John Nitz of Toledo, OH, and grandson, Joshua of Toledo, OH. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joanne; brother, Harold; sister-in-law, Marge Nitz and infant son, John. There will be no visitation. Private inurnment will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Carl'™s memory can be made to the Alzheimer'™s Association or Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio.
