Obituary

Carl F. Saylor, 93, of Rossford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Kingston of Perrysburg. Carl was born in Toledo, Ohio to Milton and Verle (York) Saylor. Prior to graduating from Waite High School in 1948 he went to work Part time at Toledo Trust, starting his banking career. In 1951 he was drafted in the U.S. Army serving in Germany during the Korean War. After his discharge in 1953, one week later he married the love of his life, Barbara A. Kraemer on May 2, 1953, and together they raised their four daughters. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Ater his discharge, Carl went back to work at Toledo Trust as teller working his way up to Vice President of former Toledo Trust, then becoming Society Bank where he retired after 53 years in the banking business. He was a member of the Lions Club, Society for the Blind, Old Newsboys and many other community serving organizations. Carl was an active member of Memorial United Church of Christ throughout his life, as well as his wife and daughters. He loved to travel, especially camping, road trips, and cruising. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Together Carl and Barb created a family vacation home in the beautiful pine forests of West Michigan. It is there at "The Woods" the entire family enjoyed many of their most blessed and memorable times with family and friends.

Not because he was our dad, but everyone he met loved him and was impacted by him.

Carl is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Jack) Hawley, Mary Beth Payak-Dock, Amy (Timothy) Scherer; son-in-law, David Leonhardt, grandchildren, Samuel Schade, Nicholas (Kelly) Schade, Molly (Chris) Webb, Michael (Ariel) Leonhardt, Andrew (Kate) Leonhardt, Robert (Korinne) Payak; and multiple great grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara, daughter, Lisa Leonhardt, and his siblings.
