Caroline Patricia Tscherne, 85, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 6, 1928 to Andrew and Elizabeth (Haydu) Kertesz. She worked many years at Petries in downtown Toledo where she met her husband John Tscherne. Together they had five children. After John passed away in 1978, Caroline began working in housekeeping for St. Charles Hospital until her retirement. Caroline loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved cooking meals for her family on holidays and throughout the year. She could always be counted on for a laugh and was constantly, 'œjust jokin.' Caroline enjoyed playing Euchre, watching the Detroit Tigers, and dancing at her grandchildren'™s weddings to her favorite song, 'œSweet Caroline.'
Caroline is survived by her sons, John (Karen) Tscherne, Dennis (Patrice) Tscherne; daughters, Christine (Randy) Shaneck, Sharon (Frank) Wasserman; son-in-law, Toby Vonck; grandchildren, Brian (Cathy), Randy (Autumn), Michael (April), Allison, Julie (Steve), Diana (Jeremy), John (Emily), Mary, Aubry, Denny, and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Jameson, Caroline, Theo, and three on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; daughter Karen Vonck; grandson, Frankie; sisters, Irene, Betty, Maryanne; and brother, Andrew.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Monday December 16, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 pm with prayer services at 6:30. Friends and family may also visit Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Epiphany of the Lord �" St. Stephen'™s Church from 9:00 am until the time of Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Caroline'™s honor are asked to consider the Ovarian Cancer Connection. The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. V'™s ER and ICU, especially Danielle and Dr. Ewing. Also a special thanks to Dr. Abidi for his compassionate care of our mother.
