Catherine Rudess, 88, of Toledo passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2005 in Bay Park Memorial Hospital. Kate was born in Ford City, PA on March 23, 1917 to Stephen and Isabella (Hrabovsky) Bicanovsky, of Slovak descent.
Catherine came to Toledo at age 17, where she later met and married Anthony "Tony" Rudess. They were married for 34 years and raised three children. Through the years, she was employed by L.O.F., Pegans Café, Rossford Lanes and the Parkside Tavern.
She immensely enjoyed crocheting, knitting, dancing, polka music, festivals, and traveling. Catherine was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society and the SNPJ.
Catherine is survived by sons, Paul S. and Robert A., Sr. (Sharon); daughter, Sharon A. (Kenneth, Sr.) CaHow; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Isabelle Dinko, Ford City, PA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony (Tony); parents; 5 brothers and Sr. Therese of the Teaching Sisters of St. Francis and grandson, Michael D. Rudess.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 550 Clark St., Toledo, OH where family and friends are invited to gather after 10:00 am. Visitation will be held Thursday from 12-9 p.m. in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, Coy Road at Starr Ave. with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Interment will follow in Allen Township Cemetery, Martin-Williston Rd., in Williston, OH. Memorial contributions can be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice or Michael Rudess Scholarship Fund at Clay.
