Obituary

Cathi L. Duffy, 49, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Toledo. Cathi was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 29, 1972 to her mother, Bonnie Duffy. Cathi was a graduate of Rossford High School, class of 1990. After high school she had worked in food service industries for various companies, but was known for her many years as a server with a kind smile, at the former Maggie's family restaurant in Perrysburg, Ohio. Cathi was described as having a very kind soul with a genuine smile that couldn't be forgotten. Always smiling, laughing, and willing to help anyone that needed it. Cathi's love for her family went unmatched. From bowling in leagues with her mother and grandma every Wednesday night, to visiting her little brother in college at Ohio University, their bond did nothing but grow stronger. Cathi's true love came when she had her daughter, Taylor. Cathi could always be found talking about how proud she was of her daughter and how much she loved her "to the moon and back" up until the day she passed. Surviving are her daughter, Taylor Musser; siblings, Joy Gladieux (Patrick), Jeff Fannin (Tina), Billy Fannin (Theresa), Eric Fannin, and Kimberly Wallin (Don); with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Fannin-Kerwin; and Grandparents, Doris and James Duffy. In the past 15 years, Cathi struggled with addiction. As with any addict there were highs and lows, the good and the bad. In recent years, Cathi had taken responsibility for her addiction, admitting it was her choice in the beginning but then the addiction took over. She tried to fight the addiction the best she could, ultimately losing her battle. It's important to know you can love the addict and not the addiction. That her or any other addict is still a person and someone's mom, dad, daughter, son, or friend. When addiction takes over they become a person you or even themselves won't recognize. That's why we chose to remember Cathi as the loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend with the contagious laugh and loving smile who is now finally free of her demons. Now she soars, now she laughs, now she smiles, now she's free. A Memorial Service will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio on February 11th and where family will greet friends from 5-7 pm with memorial services starting at 7pm.
