Charlene R Mathias, age 96, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Otterbein-Portage Valley, Pemberville. She was born on September 28, 1913 in Cedar Hill, Ohio to Rev. Charles and Clara (Kraner) Ruhlman. Charlene was a graduate of Circleville High School, Circleville, Ohio and Capital University, Columbus, Ohio. Charlene married Rev. Albert Cecil Mathias in Akron, Ohio on October 29, 1938. Charlene taught in Akron Public Schools and Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY. She volunteered at Lake Park Hospital and Otterbein-Portage Valley. She loved reading and music. Charlene is survived by her daughters, Ann (Rufus) Wallace and Nancy (Glenn) Davis, 4 granddaughters - Sherri (Scott) Gill, Dawn Scott, Lori (Scott) Hudson and Deborah Wallace, 6 great-grandchildren 2 great-great-grandchildren and several generations of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband Albert, parents, 4 sisters, 1 great-grandson, 1 great-great-granddaughter and 2 nieces. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 pm in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel where services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery, Walbridge.
